Books and the iPad

Books and the iPad

Craig Mod continues his series of terrific “journal entries” with a new essay that examines “Books in the age of the iPad.”

The essay is a summary of Mod’s recent talk given at the sixth edition of the “Artalking” series, and takes a deep look at what the arrival of the iPad (and digital formats in general) will mean for print design. Mod himself is an accomplished book designer, yet finds a lot to like about the impending transition into the digital world.

A condensed version of the piece was also presented at PechaKucha Night in Tokyo Vol. 69, and should be online in the PechaKucha website’s “Presentations” section within the next few days.

Japanese Survival Cooking with Shie Kasai

“When I moved to Montreal in 1998, I was surprised to see how many sushi takeouts there were around the Plateau area, most of them run by non-Japanese; it was a bit of culture-shock for me within the same city. Then in 2008 I documented twenty-seven sushi shops all within a thirty-minute walking distance from my apartment. This was sort of the core inspiration of this Montreal-specific project,” so tells us Shie Kasai as she takes a break to talk more about her Survival Cooking Project.
